18th International Conference on Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry

The virtual issue of the SIMS proceedings is now online and can be found here:

Dear Colleagues,

The XVIII SIMS conference is passed over.

It was a great pleasure to host you in Riva, and organize this event was a wonderful experience for us. We would like to thank everybody for the warm and active participation.

We are pleased to announce the 18th International Conference on Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry – SIMS XVIII, to be held in the beautiful location of Riva del Garda (Trento, Italy) from 18th to 23rd September 2011. The conference will be hosted by the Riva del Garda Fierecongressi conference centre, nicely located at the Garda Lake’s shores.

The conference will provide a forum for colleagues from both academia and industries throughout the World to exchange results and new ideas on Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry and related techniques. The conference will cover advancements of scientific knowledge from fundamentals to applications. Discussion on present possibilities and future developments of the technique, in view of the future requirements coming from technology and basic research, will be particularly solicited also with dedicated discussion sessions.

Contributions are invited, but not limited to, the following topics:
Data processing/analysis/interpretation
Depth profiling/inorganics
Depth profiling/organics
Ultra High Spatial Resolution SIMS
Life Science, Biological analysis and Biotechnology
Medical applications
Polymers and molecular surfaces/films
Geology, Geo- and Cosmochemistry
3D Imaging
Instrumental developments
Cluster Ions
Complementary techniques and multi-technique approaches (LEIS, MEIS, GD-MS, APT, ...)
Industrial applications
Energy Applications
Atmospheric pressure particle bombardment (DESI, DICE, …)

SIMS XVIII is jointly organized by the SIMS Italian Workgroup, formed by 13 academic, research and industrial Italian institutions, and by the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (Trento, Italy).

We hope you will join us by actively participating to the Conference, and look forward to meet you in Italy.
